My client, a large international industrial energy corporation was in the process of creating a new department and quickly hiring contractors as well as interns with little corporate experience. In order to streamline the on-boarding process, I created learning materials that could be easily accessible to all new hires through the company intranet.

To achieve this goal, I created detailed, multi-modal, and concise articles instructing new hires how to use common software and processes within the company. I chose to increase the effectiveness and reach of the content by providing detailed images that enhanced the written instructions. Combined with treating specific words and passages with different weight, the user could quickly scan the articles for relevant content, decreasing the time spent learning without sacrificing the original educational intent of the articles.

By providing quick information on demand, employee confidence was enhanced leading to a decrease in the amount of time employees stopped work to train others, reducing friction and increasing day to day efficiency.
